The people who played all the course on Åland #ÅlandDiscGolfOpen

We started a competition 25/7 #ÅlandOpen when we officially opened the #ÅlandDiscGolfIsland. That competition ended last of august and 48 people competed and 15 of these visit and played all 11 courses during that period. (The 15 players who played all the courses, will get a present on their mail next week, except the ones who already got in person) The result was not the important thing in this competition, instead it was the experience to play disc golf and visit all the scenery places and see the diversity of Åland nature and hopefully meet other disc golfers on the courses. Last weekend it was played over 20 000 rounds on the 10 tracks that we have our live monitoring on since the middle of July. That means it has been over 2 000 rounds in average on the 10 courses in 7 weeks time. I will go deeper in statistics in another blogpost when we have the data from September.

1) How did you come up with the idea to come to Åland and Play Disc Golf? I saw some link in Facebook and  thought that me and my friends have to do the trip to Discgolf Island. 2) How many different courses have you played before this trip to Åland? I`m not sure but if i had to guess I would say around 50. 3) Have you been to Åland before? Yes I have about 10 years ago.  4) If you compare the Åland courses with the courses on mainland Finland, what is the difference? I live in Western Finland so the land was quite much rockier in Åland than home.  5) Could you rank your 3 best courses on Åland Island.

6) What is the best and worst with the trip to Åland? Everything were good when we take a trip to Åland. Sun was shining whole weekend and peoples were nice to us were ever we go.  7) Any other things you would like to comment about your trip to Åland Island?

Nature is amazing in Åland. If you have ever visited there you should go and enjoy the nature while playing Discgolf. Thanks Mats and others!

1) How did you come up with the idea to come to Åland and Play Disc Golf? Me and my friends saw the the news about discgolfisland project and almost immediately decided that we have to come there and play the courses. And so we rent a camper and booked a ferry! 2) How many different courses have you played before this trip to Åland? I would say that I have played maybe in 20-25 different courses. Mainly in Satakunta and Pirkanmaa areas 3) Have you been to Åland before? No I actually had never been in Åland before! 4) If you compare the Åland courses with the courses on mainland Finland, what is the difference? There is lots of similar types of courses that you can find in mainland Finland also, but I would say that biggest differences between mainland Finlan and Åland courses are definitely the scenery and terrain in some courses!

6) What is the best and worst with the trip to Åland? In my case best in the trip was definitely the company I was travelling with! Worst part of the trip umm... I have nothing bad to say about Åland or my trip there but maybe I say that there is too much ticks :D

7) Any other things you would like to comment about your trip to Åland Island? Highly recommend everyone to make the trip to Åland if possible! Beautiful place and beautiful courses to play! Player Nicola Aspelin Åbo, 1) How did you come up with the idea to come to Åland and Play Disc Golf? I was on Åland last year and tried Mariehamn's DGP. When I heard that several were to be built on Åland, we decided with my boyfriend to visit all the courses that were finished. 2) How many different courses have you played before this trip to Åland? I have thrown on 2 different courses (urheilupuiston DGP in Turku and Nunnan DGP in St. Karins). 3) Have you been to Åland before? Yes, I have been to Åland several times before. 4) If you compare the Åland courses with the courses on mainland Finland, what is the difference? I have not visited enough courses on the mainland to be able to compare the courses on Åland and on the mainland. 5) Could you rank your 3 best courses on Åland Island. 1. Lappo 2. Seglinge 3. Stallhagen 6) What is the best and worst with the trip to Åland? The worst thing about being on Åland is definitely the amount of ticks and mosquitoes. The best has been the weather. 7) Any other things you would like to comment about your trip to Åland Island?
